St. Augustine Welcomes New State-of-the-Art Retirement Community

Opening in late summer, St. Augustine will soon welcome a distinct option for senior living – Silver Creek at St. Augustine, offering assisted living, memory care and short-term respite care.

Currently in the final stages of construction, Silver Creek will feature 72 one- and two-bedroom assisted living apartments, and 48 one- and two-bedroom memory care apartments ranging. The community is owned and developed by Montgomery Land Company based in Jacksonville.

“I have a strong passion and mission to serve area seniors. For this reason, Silver Creek was designed to offer the perfect balance of sophisticated living and the comfort of a safe, familiar atmosphere for our residents,” said Mitch Montgomery, president of Montgomery Land Company. “We further committed to providing an affordable retirement option inclusive of enriching social activities, fine dining and superior services of an upscale resort. We believe that Silver Creek best exemplifies this design and we’re proud to introduce it to the city of St. Augustine.”

Located off Highway 207 on 21 acres and surrounded by a natural, wooded preserve, Silver Creek’s stunning Spanish architectural structure features state-of-the-art building design technology to withstand a Category 5 hurricane and includes the latest fire-suppression technology. The interior spaces include wide corridors, vaulted ceilings and beautiful finishes throughout, as well as an interior rotunda surrounding a Grand Piano located in the community lobby. The double-sided stone fireplace greets you in the lobby and creates an intimate dining experience in the Cypress Restaurant, one of the three dining venues.

Silver Creek’s community spaces are strategically and creatively designed to support and empower continued resident growth spiritually, physically, intellectually and socially. The community’s philosophy shifts away from the traditional, outdated medical care model toward a modern, hospitality-based model that promotes increased independence, fosters continued engagement in life, and maximizes individual human potential.

“With the idea of creating a community epicenter, the Village Square is strategically designed on the first floor, and serves as home to all the community’s services and amenities,” said Montgomery. “It is our hope to enhance overall quality of life, facilitate interaction, and create inspiring environments for residents and their guests to enjoy the social spaces to be available at Silver Creek.”

Whether it’s a chef-prepared meal in the Cypress Restaurant, a watercolor class in the Creative Arts Studio, a game of Bridge or a Wii tournament in the lounge and game room, or just the stimulating sights, sounds and tastes this central hub will evoke, the social engagement is certain to encourage successful and healthful aging for all residents.

“Every aspect of the community’s design is focused on making daily life easier for our residents. The hallways and outdoor paths are laid out on a circular plan that is easy to navigate,” said Sharon Benjamin, executive director at Silver Creek. “Even the building’s décor, lighting and color schemes have been carefully chosen to stimulate a soothing and quieting response.”

Silver Creek also features a library with computer center, solarium sun room, Flagler Private Dining, Banyanwood Bistro and physical therapy room furnished with equipment specifically designed for seniors, beauty salon and barber shop, a multi-media center featuring a movie theater, courtyard with covered seating, community education center for residents and staff, as well as a wellness clinic for onsite doctor visits. Residents will also have their choice of planned social events/outings, educational programs and activities available every day.

“The purpose of this master-planned community is to provide an abundance of positive, upbeat and stimulating environments designed to empower seniors to remain optimistic and in control of their own lives,” said Montgomery. “We created living room and lounge game rooms on each wing to promote increased levels of interaction and bonding among smaller groupings of residents, while providing strategic care, meaningful activities and purposeful programming tailored to the specific acuity levels of its residents. We truly believe Silver Creek is the future of senior living.”

Silver Creek’s Welcome Center is open and located onsite at 165 Silver Lane in St. Augustine. Reservations are currently being accepted. To learn more, visit SilverCreekRetirement.com or call 904.810.0444.
